Cooling Centers Open as Heatwave Creeps Back into California this Weekend

A significant warming trend will bring High Risk to Very High Risk heat impacts for much of the state through the holiday weekend. Temperatures of 10-20 degrees above normal for Sunday and Monday are expected, while the overnight hours will not cool down much across the Central Valley and Southern California. This may lead to heat-related impacts, especially for those working outside. This heatwave will be similar to the one in mid-August with near-record high temperatures possible. California ISO has issued a Flex Alert Saturday through Monday in anticipation of high energy demand.

So in order to safeguard your own health, and the health of loved ones, be sure to stay in air conditioned rooms as much as possible, limit or suspend outdoor activities and stay hydrated.

If you or someone you know does not have an air conditioned space, comfort can be found at any number of cooling centers around the state.
