Residents urged to call FEMA 1-800 Hotline to Register for Disaster Assistance
SACRAMENTO– As a result of President Obama’s September 22, 2015 disaster declaration, at the request of Governor Jerry Brown, FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program is immediately available for eligible residents of Lake County to begin the recovery process.
The Individuals and Households Program provides financial help or direct services to those who have necessary expenses and serious needs if they are unable to meet the needs through other means.
The forms of assistance available can include: Housing Assistance and Other Needs Assistance (including personal property and other items) for eligible applicants. The process begins by registering with FEMA.
Anyone impacted by the Valley Fire in Lake County, from September 12, 2015 and continuing, is encouraged to immediately register their household for FEMA and State assistance by calling FEMA’s toll-free number at 1-800-621-3362 (FEMA) or online at www.disasterassistance.gov or via the smart phone app m.fema.gov. Those who have a speech disability or hearing loss and use TTY, should call 1- 800-462-7585 directly; for those who use 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS), call 1-800-621-3362.
FEMA also encourages applicants to call their insurance agents to file a claim at the same time.
