Teacher Laura Crouch did a great thing for Rocklin’s Maria Montessori Charter Academy 7 years ago. She brought Teen CERT to her school. She was already CERT trained, and then became Teen CERT certified so she could immediately implement the Community Emergency Response Team concept. The program has not only given the kids safety skills, it’s also helped train their brains to think before acting, something teens naturally aren’t very good at.
This week, her team put their skills to the test, saving fellow students after a large earthquake damaged their school, make believe of course. Watch the story here.
