Winds Set to Sweep Across the Region
Gusty winds are slated to return to Southern California this weekend, bringing with them the potential for hazardous conditions. Starting early Friday morning, a high wind warning will be in effect until Saturday afternoon, especially affecting the Santa Susana and San Gabriel Mountains and the areas along the 14 Freeway corridor.
What to Expect This Weekend
During the same time frame, those in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, as well as the Malibu coast, will be under a wind advisory. Saturday is anticipated to be the windiest day.
As the winds pick up, temperatures across the region are also expected to rise, peaking on Sunday when most of Los Angeles County will likely see highs in the 80s.
On Friday, residents of Los Angeles and Orange counties can look forward to sun-filled skies, with temperatures reaching a high of 73 degrees and a low around 50. Winds will gust between 10 to 30 mph.
Those in the valleys and Inland Empire can expect equally pleasant weather on Friday, with highs reaching 74 degrees and nighttime lows dipping to 45. However, stronger Santa Ana winds are anticipated for Saturday.
At the beaches, Friday’s forecast indicates gusty conditions with a high of 71 degrees and a low of 51. Mountain areas will experience sunny spells with wind gusts as high as 40 mph, bringing highs around 44 degrees and chilly overnight lows of 21. In the deserts, sandy conditions are expected, with highs of 63 degrees and a low of 30, along with the chance of blowing sand continuing into Saturday.
