Alert: Costco Recalls Meatloaf Meal Kit Due to Salmonella Risks

Attention all Costco shoppers! There’s a recall on one of the store’s favorite meal kits due to potential salmonella contamination. The item in question is the Meatloaf with Mashed Yukon Potatoes and Glaze, which has recently raised health concerns.

Details of the Recall

Costco’s recall notice indicates that the Meatloaf meal kit, identified as Item #30783, may contain an ingredient that could pose a salmonella risk. This warning comes from Griffith Foods Inc., the supplier of a key component used in the meal kit.

The affected kits have sell-by dates ranging from March 5 to March 16, and they were distributed across Costco locations in 26 states, as well as in Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

What To Do If You Have the Meal Kit

If you’ve purchased this meal kit, it is strongly advised not to consume it. Fortunately, Costco is offering a full refund for returned products. The company has expressed regret for any inconvenience this may have caused to its members.

Importantly, while there are no reported illnesses linked to this recall, consumers should be aware of the symptoms of salmonella, which include diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and a decreased appetite. These symptoms typically manifest between six hours to six days after exposure and can last from four to seven days.

Salmonella can be particularly dangerous for young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, who may require hospitalization if infected.
