Family and friends are grieving after the tragic loss of an 18-year-old from Big Bear, who fell from a bridge support structure—an area that was cherished by local teens.
The young woman, identified as Bella Fanuele, was a vibrant recent high school graduate with dreams of becoming a professional baker. Her aspirations were abruptly cut short, sparking a wave of sorrow within the community.
On a Tuesday evening at approximately 11 p.m., emergency responders from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department received a call regarding a search and rescue operation at the Big Bear Dam. Unfortunately, they discovered that Fanuele had fallen from atop a support structure under Highway 18.
Rescue teams descended the nearby hill, quickly locating her. Despite immediate lifesaving attempts, Bella was declared deceased at the site.
According to initial reports from authorities, the investigation revealed no sign of foul play in connection to her untimely death.
In the wake of this tragedy, Bella’s friends gathered at the bridge to pay their respects, leaving flowers at a makeshift memorial. Residents remarked that the area beneath the highway was well-known as a favorite hangout spot for local youth.
Friends launched a fundraiser in Bella’s honor, highlighting her excitement about starting college and her vision of opening a bakery. In a heartfelt tribute, her family hopes to fulfill Bella’s dream by creating a bakery in her name, ensuring that her legacy lives on through her passion for baking.
