LAPD Uncovers Illegal Gambling Operation in Koreatown Following Hostage Call

Early Morning Discovery

In a surprising turn of events, authorities responded to a report of a hostage situation early Saturday morning in Koreatown. Around 4 a.m., LAPD received a call about a gunman who allegedly threatened an individual. The location was identified as an abandoned warehouse on West 8th Street, close to Kingsley Drive.

Police Action and Detentions

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials found that the warehouse had been operating as an illegal gambling venue. In total, 26 individuals were detained during the operation, with six of those individuals arrested due to outstanding warrants.

Officer Charles Miller of the LAPD commented on the situation, stating, “We had a radio call of a male armed with a gun, and officers discovered an illegal gambling operation.” Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the initial suspects—both the supposed gunman and the hostage—were not locating at the scene.

Those detained are currently in custody awaiting further processing, while the remaining individuals have been released. A striking video captured the police operation, showing tactical officers surrounding the building and apprehending those inside, with many appearing restrained.
