U.S. and Israel Launch Military Action
In a significant escalation of tensions, the United States and Israel have initiated joint military operations against Iran. President Donald Trump confirmed this in a video message, stating that major combat operations are officially underway. He emphasized that the primary goal of these operations is to protect American citizens by neutralizing imminent threats posed by the Iranian regime, which he described as a group of “very hard, terrible people.”
During his address, Trump labeled Iran as the “world’s number one state sponsor of terror” and reiterated a firm stance against their pursuit of nuclear weapons. In a rallying call, he urged the people of Iran to capitalize on this moment as an opportunity for potential regime change.
Details of the Joint Attack
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in his first comments regarding the strikes, echoed Trump’s sentiments, declaring that this operation was necessary to eliminate the existential threats originating from Iran. A spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the coordinated attack targeted numerous military sites within Iran, emphasizing that both U.S. and Israeli forces had operated in close conjunction throughout the planning process.
As part of the operation, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for launching missiles and drones aimed at the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, as well as military bases in neighboring Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Reports from Bahrain’s state media corroborated that the U.S. naval facility was a prime target of the missile strikes.
The IRGC’s statement, broadcasted by Iran’s state television, denounced the joint actions of the U.S. and Israel as a violation of international laws, accusing them of aggression against the Islamic Republic. They also warned of retaliatory measures, stating that an extensive missile and drone offensive against Israeli territories had commenced in response to what they termed “hostile and criminal actions.”
