Consumers should be cautious as some products may not display the misleading establishment number “EST. 1363” directly on the packaging; retailers might have added their own labels, complicating identification.
Upon investigation, officials found that the products in question bore false inspection markings, indicating a lack of federal inspection authority. These items were sent to a distributor in Georgia for subsequent delivery to various retail and restaurant locations across the country.
Fortunately, the potential threat was identified during routine checks, and there have been no reported cases of illness connected to these products. However, the FSIS warns that food made without proper inspection could pose serious health risks, including undeclared allergens and harmful bacteria.
