Two dogs discovered unsupervised at Will Rogers State Beach, alongside personal items, have ignited a troubling mystery about their owner’s whereabouts. Concerned for the well-being of the dogs, a witness believes there could be serious implications surrounding their situation.
Discovery and Concerns
On July 9, a passerby named Paolo Moreno encountered two dogs abandoned near Temescal Canyon Road. Within a nearby women’s restroom, he found a bag containing dog food, a swimsuit, and other personal items. This startling find raised alarms for Moreno, who speculated that the owner may not have deserted them willingly.
“My main worry is what might have happened to the dogs’ owner,” said Moreno. “There’s a possibility that something more sinister occurred at the beach.” He immediately reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department and discussed the matter with a senior officer. According to Moreno, the officer mentioned that the circumstances surrounding the belongings did not align with an ordinary abandonment.
While initially thinking the dogs could belong to someone experiencing homelessness, Moreno searched local homeless encampments but found no one who recognized them.
Efforts to Locate the Owner
Describing the dogs as clean and healthy, Moreno noted that they were outfitted with matching, high-quality harnesses. In his quest to find their owner, he took them to a vet, but unfortunately, neither dog had a microchip for identification. This dead end led him to investigate the area for surveillance cameras, but he was disappointed to find none.
In an effort to solve the mystery, Moreno has been posting flyers around the beach area, hoping someone might recognize the dogs and provide information about their owner. The uncertainty weighs heavily on him, especially as a parent himself. “It’s unsettling to think about. I have two adult daughters, and this situation is quite concerning,” he shared.
By raising awareness about the dogs and their plight, Moreno hopes to uncover new leads. “I’m optimistic that by sharing the story and increasing visibility, someone in the greater Los Angeles area will recognize these dogs and help us figure out what happened to their owner before it’s too late,” he concluded.
