Oak Glen Steak House shared video footage on social media capturing the dramatic scenes of a mudslide rushing past. The establishment had to close its doors due to the severe weather and advised patrons to exercise caution and stay away. One local, Ivan Fuentes, recounted his close call, explaining how he left just moments before a washout occurred. “I was urged to leave quickly when a neighbor alerted me about the dangerous conditions on the road,” he recalled.
In another area, Big Bear was hit with intense lightning, hail, and downpours, while a Jeep became stranded in mud in Forest Falls. These incidents served as stark reminders of the potential hazards associated with heavy rainfall in mountainous regions.
With forecasters predicting a stronger El Niño this season, emergency responders are keen to remind residents and visitors alike to prepare for the possibility of severe winter storms. Chloe Castillo, a public information officer with Cal Fire, emphasized the importance of heeding warnings and staying informed as the season progresses. “We want everyone, including tourists, to take early action and be ready for whatever may come,” she advised.
