Incident Overview
COLTON, Calif. — A devastating explosion involving a hydrogen truck occurred in Colton late Tuesday night, resulting in the tragic death of one individual and serious injuries to another.
The explosion took place shortly before 11 p.m. near the intersection of Miguel Bustamante Parkway and South Riverside Avenue. According to the Colton Fire Department, technicians were conducting maintenance on hydrogen trucks in a storage area when an explosion erupted, leading to a significant fire.
Emergency Response
Fire crews responded promptly to the scene and encountered a car along with a hydrogen truck trailer completely engulfed in flames. They acted swiftly, managing to extinguish the fire within approximately 20 minutes.
One technician sustained severe burns and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Regrettably, another person, an adult male, was later discovered deceased at the explosion site.
A hazardous materials team has been dispatched to ensure the area is safely cleared.
