This weekend, Southern California is gearing up for a mix of mild temperatures and some noteworthy weather alerts. While many areas will enjoy pleasant conditions, others will face a wind advisory and heightened fire danger.
Wind Advisories and Red Flag Warnings
A wind advisory is in effect for parts of the Antelope Valley and Inland Empire, set to last through Sunday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a warning, forecasting southwest winds between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts that could reach up to 50 mph.
In addition to the wind advisory, a red flag warning is also active until 11 p.m. Saturday for certain regions in San Bernardino and Kern counties, indicating a high risk of fire due to the dry and windy conditions.
Weekend Weather Forecast
Moving on to temperatures, Los Angeles and Orange counties are expected to hit a high of 74 on Saturday under partly sunny skies, with cloudier conditions forecasted for Sunday. The valleys and Inland Empire will enjoy similar warm weather in the 70s throughout next week, complete with morning clouds followed by patchy sunshine on both Saturday and Sunday.
For our coastal communities, light rain could roll in Saturday morning, likely giving way to sunny afternoons. Beach highs are anticipated to be around 70 degrees. Mountain regions will experience sunny yet breezy conditions with gusts reaching up to 30 mph, and temps are projected to peak at 71 degrees before dropping to a chilly 36 at night.
Desert areas will see the warmest temperatures this weekend, hitting the low 80s, while Palm Springs is set to break the 90-degree mark, reaching an impressive 99 degrees. However, residents should remain cautious of strong winds that could gust up to 50 mph in those locations.
