Cooler Tuesday Precedes a Heat Wave in Southern California

Cool Weather Before the Heat Wave

Southern California is enjoying a brief respite from the heat on Tuesday, with mild temperatures as summer-like warmth prepares to make a return. Following this cool spell, residents should brace themselves for a notable increase in temperatures starting Wednesday that could extend into early next week.

What to Expect Later This Week

The anticipated warm-up will reach its peak on Thursday and Friday, with many areas forecasted to hit record-breaking highs. For many, the mercury is expected to soar into the 90s, and in some locales, it could even reach three digits, marking some of the hottest temperatures seen this season.

In Los Angeles and Orange counties, the weather on Tuesday will see sunny skies, with highs around 66 degrees and lows near 54 degrees. By the week’s end, temperatures are predicted to rise significantly, with mid-90s on Thursday and upper 90s on Friday becoming the norm across the area.

The valleys and Inland Empire are also preparing for summer-like warmth, starting with highs around 70 degrees on Tuesday before escalating into the 90s later in the week with dry conditions expected.

Beachgoers will find a mix of clouds and sunshine on Tuesday, with highs reaching 65 degrees and cooling down to 52 at night. Meanwhile, those in the mountains can expect highs in the upper 50s on Tuesday, but temperatures will warm up to the 70s by week’s end.

Desert areas are maintaining pleasant conditions too, experiencing highs around 70 degrees and lows plunging to 42. However, residents of Palm Springs should prepare for temperatures hitting the century mark starting Friday and possibly lasting through early next week.
