Cool Temperatures Arriving for Memorial Day Weekend
This Memorial Day weekend, Southern California is gearing up for a delightful shift in the weather with a cooling trend taking hold across the region. The latest forecasts indicate that residents will enjoy lower temperatures accompanied by an increase in cloud cover throughout the long weekend.
What to Expect in Different Areas
Thanks to an influx of onshore flow, the area will experience a marine layer bringing that beloved May Gray back into the picture. Expect this cooling trend to extend into the early part of next week, including on Memorial Day itself.
Across Los Angeles and Orange counties, Sunday will reveal morning clouds giving way to glimpses of afternoon sunshine, with highs reaching around 73 degrees and lows dipping to 55. As the week progresses, temperatures are likely to drop further, accompanied by thick marine layer clouds.
In the valleys and Inland Empire, partly sunny skies await Sunday with maximum temperatures hitting 82 degrees and a low of 49. By mid-week, those temperatures could fall to the low 70s.
Beachgoers can anticipate cloudy mornings brightening up into sunshine later in the day; highs will be around 71 degrees with lows at 55. Similar weather patterns are expected to persist in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the mountain communities can look forward to pleasant weather, enjoying sunny and mild conditions on Sunday, where the high could reach 73 degrees and drop to a refreshing low of 38. Desert regions like Palm Springs may see temperatures soar to 96 degrees, giving visitors and locals alike plenty of options for enjoying the outdoors.
As you prepare for your holiday plans, keep an eye out for the potential of some light drizzle on Tuesday morning as the marine layer thickens further.
