A tornado has been confirmed in close proximity to Fresno, California, as noted by the National Weather Service (NWS). The tornado made landfall near the small community of Biola in Fresno County around 2:19 p.m. PT on Tuesday, April 21.
Timing and Safety Alerts
The NWS issued tornado warnings for several parts of Fresno and Madera counties, which will remain in effect until approximately 2:45 p.m. Residents in the affected areas are urged to take these warnings seriously, as flying debris poses significant risks for those who cannot find shelter.
Additionally, the agency warned that mobile homes are especially vulnerable to damage. Roofs, windows, and parked vehicles may also be at risk if the storm intensifies.
Previous Tornado Activity
Interestingly, this is not the first tornado to impact areas in California. In December 2025, a weaker EF-0 tornado was reported in Boyle Heights, near Los Angeles, showcasing that tornado events, though rare, can occur in various parts of the state.
As of 2:30 p.m., there have been no reported injuries associated with today’s tornado. Residents are advised to stay informed through local news updates and heed safety instructions from emergency management officials.
