A driver was critically injured in a shooting that occurred on the 105 Freeway, leading to an extensive closure of the eastbound lanes and significant traffic delays throughout Los Angeles.
The incident took place Thursday afternoon when California Highway Patrol (CHP) received an emergency call around 1:45 p.m. Officers arrived to find a black Toyota Camry with the driver slumped over, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Investigation Underway
The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition. Initial reports indicated that the rear right window of the vehicle was shattered, suggesting a violent encounter. Fortunately, no firearms have been recovered so far, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
In response to the shooting, all eastbound lanes of the 105 Freeway were closed west of Vermont Avenue. Traffic congestion extended for miles as officials worked to secure the scene and gather evidence. Given the ongoing investigation, the timeline for reopening this section of the freeway is still uncertain.
