An 18-year-old was tragically lost and three others injured, including an 11-year-old, when gunfire erupted at a high school parking lot shortly after a graduation ceremony. The incident unfolded around 7:15 p.m. in Fairfield, where the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District was celebrating the achievements of Sem Yeto High School graduates.
The violence erupted just after the commencement festivities wrapped up, leading law enforcement to label the situation as a “large-scale incident.” Authorities reported that the unnamed 18-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and it remains unclear if they were a student at the school.
Victims Receiving Care
Emergency services rushed the three injured individuals—a child, a young adult of 20, and another of 25—to nearby hospitals for treatment. As of now, their conditions have not been disclosed.
Investigation and Community Response
While police have reassured the community that there is no lingering threat, the search for suspects continues, with no arrests made thus far. The local community is left shaken by this unexpected act of violence at what should have been a celebratory occasion.
