Driver Sentenced for Deadly Collision
A devastating crash involving multiple vehicles on the I-10 freeway in Ontario has led to a significant prison sentence for the truck driver responsible. Jashanpreet Singh, from Yuba City, California, was handed a sentence of four years and eight months in state prison following a tragic accident that occurred last October.
During the incident, Singh’s big rig collided with numerous passenger vehicles as he failed to respond to slowing traffic. Dashcam footage captured the shocking moment when his truck barreled through the cars before crashing into another large vehicle, ultimately igniting a fire. This catastrophic event resulted in the loss of three lives and left four individuals injured.
Victims Remembered
Singh, who was just 21 at the time of the crash, pled guilty in June to three counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. The tragic collision took place on October 21, 2025, amidst busy traffic conditions on the westbound side of the freeway, close to the interchange with the 15 Freeway.
The crash involved a total of four semi trucks and four cars. Sadly, three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others required hospitalization for their injuries. Among the deceased were Clarence Nelson, a former assistant basketball coach at Pomona High School, and his wife, Lisa. The high school community mourned their passing, sharing a heartfelt tribute that read, “RIP Coach Nelson and his wife.”
In the aftermath of the accident, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials issued an arrest detainer for Singh. Reports indicated that he had entered the United States through the southern border in 2022, raising further scrutiny regarding his immigration status as an undocumented immigrant from India.
