New Flames Erupt in Antelope Valley
As the Summit Fire captured the attention of residents and officials alike, another blaze sparked in Antelope Valley on Saturday. Known as the Juno Fire, this new wildfire has scorched 188 acres near the intersection of Lancaster Road and Munz Ranch Road, according to reports from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Initially, residents in the vicinity were put on alert for potential evacuations, but as the situation developed, those warnings were lifted later in the evening, providing a sigh of relief to many, as stated by Cal Fire, the agency responsible for managing wildfire incidents across the state.
Summit Fire’s Escalating Threat
Meanwhile, the Summit Fire, which is raging near the Los Angeles-San Bernardino county line, has rapidly expanded, covering over 2,600 acres by Saturday. The extreme heat, combined with moisture from incoming monsoonal weather, has heightened the risk of fire spread, prompting evacuation orders for residents in Llano.
As of Saturday night, the Summit Fire is only 8 percent contained. Reports indicate that one home has sustained damage and a minor structure was lost amid the destruction. The inferno ignited just before 1 p.m. on Friday in Llano, near the Jesus Canyon Road and East Avenue Z area. Authorities have warned that the potential for swift fire growth remains high, citing erratic behavior of the flames as a serious concern for the community.
