Celebrating a Legacy
The legendary hip-hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony has been immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, an honor that recognizes their impressive 35-year career. Known for their unique blend of rapid-fire rap, melodic harmonies, and meaningful storytelling, the group has gifted fans three chart-topping albums and a Grammy Award.
A Memorable Ceremony
During the star unveiling ceremony held near Gower Street, notable figures Ice-T and Fat Joe took to the stage to pay tribute to the group. Ice-T reflected on the significance of the moment, noting, “Usually, you only see people like this, we only get together during bad times. Let’s just applaud the fact that all Bone Thugs are alive, healthy and here.”
Radio personality Big Boy hosted the event, highlighting the enduring impact of the group: “They remain one of the most influential and best-selling hip-hop groups of all time. I love to call these fellas veterans and relevant at the same damn time.” The members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony—Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone—expressed their heartfelt gratitude during their acceptance speeches.
Stanley Howse (Flesh-n-Bone) shared, “From the trenches to the stars, we’ve been through it all, through the fire and the rain. We came from a place where opportunities were way too limited, so to be here standing with my brothers is something that I don’t take for granted. All we wanted to do was share a particular sound to inspire the world, and I thank God for giving us another chance to celebrate together.”
Steven Howse (Layzie Bone), Stanley’s brother, added his hopes for their success, stating, “All I ever wanted to see was my homeboys successful. All I ever wanted in life was for us to prosper.” The event came just days before the group kicked off their concert tour at the Garden Amp in Garden Grove.
This star marks the 2,851st since the Hollywood Walk of Fame was inaugurated in 1961, when the original 1,558 stars were established. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, originally formed in Cleveland as B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e in 1991, skyrocketed to fame after being discovered by the late Eazy-E of N.W.A, who signed them to Ruthless Records in 1993. Their breakthrough EP, “Creepin on ah Come Up,” released in 1994, featured iconic tracks like “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” and “Foe tha Love of $,” showcasing their distinctive sound. Their first No. 1 hit, “E 1999 Eternal,” dominated charts in 1995, further establishing their presence in the music industry.
