$85K Reward for Information on Unsolved Tragedy of Altadena's Youngest Victim

A Heartfelt Call for Justice

Nearly ten years ago, a heartbreaking event shattered the lives of many when a 4-year-old boy from Altadena lost his life to a stray bullet. On July 5, 2016, Salvador Esparza was innocently standing at the doorway of his home when gunfire erupted as someone fled through the family’s yard. In that tragic moment, Salvador’s life was unjustly cut short.

A Family’s Enduring Grief

The pain of this senseless loss continues to weigh heavily on Salvador’s family. His grandmother, Juana Esparza, shared her sorrow, stating, “My grandson was taken away from us, and it’s been really hard on us. Every single day I pray.” Despite the passage of a decade and an ongoing investigation, no one has been held accountable for this tragedy.

Now, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is pleading for public assistance. They are offering a substantial reward of $85,000 for any information that leads to the arrest or conviction of those involved in Salvador’s death. Sheriff Robert Luna emphasized the community’s potential role in bringing about justice, saying, “We believe someone knows who pulled the trigger. Today we are asking those individuals to step up to the plate and do the right thing.”

Over the years, authorities have received various tips but have yet to make an arrest. They urge that even the smallest detail could be crucial in solving this case. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger echoed this sentiment, noting that seemingly insignificant information may provide the key to identifying those responsible for this tragic loss.

If you or anyone you know has information about this case, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Remember, the reward is available even for those who wish to remain anonymous.
