An Amber Alert that sparked concern for a young child in Kern County has officially been canceled, much to the relief of local residents. The alert was issued for a 3-year-old boy named Emaria Peel, who was reported missing after being last seen on Friday evening.
The Search for Emaria Peel
Emaria was last spotted around 7:17 p.m. on the corner of Redwood Boulevard and 83rd Street in California City. Authorities quickly mobilized, believing that the boy was taken by 31-year-old Charnay Mclin. So far, details about the nature of their relationship have not been disclosed.
Worried community members were on high alert as the California Highway Patrol (CHP) described Mclin as potentially armed and dangerous. Officers worked diligently, asking anyone who might have seen the pair or the gold-colored 2021 Kia Sorento they were traveling in — with a California license plate number 36095DV — to call 911 immediately.
A Happy Reunion
Early Saturday morning, a sigh of relief echoed across the community when the CHP announced that Emaria had been found safe. The Amber Alert was officially deactivated at around 12:42 a.m., bringing a happy ending to a potentially troubling situation. However, officials have yet to release further details about the circumstances surrounding the child’s recovery or if Mclin was apprehended.
The swift response from law enforcement and the vigilance of the public played a crucial role in ensuring the child’s safety. This incident serves as a reminder of how a community can come together in times of crisis.
