Man Forgives Teens After Hot Tub Attack in San Bernardino

A man in San Bernardino is recovering from a violent encounter that occurred while he was unwinding in a hot tub at his apartment complex. The shocking incident involved a group of teenagers who assaulted him unexpectedly.

The Incident Unfolded

Greg Medina, the victim, was enjoying a peaceful moment when he suddenly felt a hard hit to his head. One of the teen aggressors struck him, causing his glasses and AirPods to fly out of reach. In the chaos, Greg realized his phone had been snatched. Although he attempted to pursue the fleeing teens, they had already vanished.

Footage from security cameras captured the incident, quickly spreading across social media platforms, stirring public outrage. In an unexpected twist, the father of one of the assailants reached out to Greg, informing him that he intended to take the boys to the police.

Extending Forgiveness

In a remarkable display of compassion, Greg agreed to meet with the teens and their families. What could have been a confrontation turned into a moment of understanding and forgiveness. “I looked them in the eyes and shook their hands,” Greg recounted. Emphasizing empathy, he shared a heartfelt exchange with the boys, even offering them a hug, which brought tears to their eyes. “I told them, ‘I know you’re scared. Scary things are going on, but you’ll be OK,’” he said.

The teens are likely to face legal repercussions, as they expressed intentions to create a TikTok video from their misguided actions. Meanwhile, Greg is still dealing with the aftermath of the attack, including ongoing effects from the concussion he sustained.

In light of the incident, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist Greg with medical expenses and the financial strain from time off work. Community members looking to contribute are encouraged to support his recovery.
