Caught in a Web of Allegations: UCLA Student Abduction Case Takes a Dark Turn

A man from Santa Monica is at the center of disturbing allegations involving the brief kidnapping of two UCLA students and a separate sexual assault case. This troubling story began to unfold when Alexander Schecter, 26, was arrested by UCLA police on March 12 after being accused of abducting the students just days earlier.

The Kidnapping Incident

On March 8, at approximately 3 a.m., the two students were dropped off in the 500 block of Landfair Avenue when Schecter allegedly forced them to stay in his vehicle and made threats. Fearing for their safety, the students remained in the car as Schecter drove them about half a mile to the 400 block of Gayley Avenue. Thankfully, they managed to escape and reported the incident to authorities.

Despite the serious charges of kidnapping and false imprisonment, Schecter posted bail shortly after his arrest that same day. However, this incident is just one piece of a broader investigation.

Ongoing Investigations and Additional Allegations

As detectives delved deeper, they discovered potential links between Schecter and a sexual assault case reported in the Palms neighborhood on October 12, 2025. This connection prompted UCLA police to apprehend Schecter at his residence in Santa Monica last Friday, with his bail set at a substantial $600,000. He was released on bond the following day.

Authorities are concerned there may be more incidents that have gone unreported, and they are urging anyone who may have had a similar experience or possesses information related to this case to step forward. The UCLA Police Department is actively seeking to hear from potential victims at 310-825-9371.
