A surprising altercation erupted inside a Wendy’s in Southern California, turning an ordinary meal into a scene of chaos. On Tuesday, customers witnessed a dramatic incident where one man brandished a knife while another seemingly taunted him, capturing the attention of social media users.
The Confrontation
The viral video, filmed in the restaurant’s Northridge location, shows Kyle Manfre, a 46-year-old content creator, who was reportedly charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Manfre insists he acted in self-defense, claiming he felt threatened during the encounter.
According to Manfre, as he and his girlfriend finished their prayer, a man began verbally attacking Wendy’s employees and then closed in on him menacingly. Describing the moment, he said, “I was terrified,” thinking the approaching man was holding a weapon. It was later revealed to be just keys, but in that moment, he felt his life was in danger.
“I only brandished it,” Manfre maintained, clarifying that he never intended to use the knife against the other person. His approximately 3-inch pocket knife was taken by the authorities during the incident.
The Aftermath
Witnesses reported a flurry of activity as the dispute escalated. Jesus Lepit, a nearby diner, observed that the man in the cap was aggressively confronting patrons while chairs flew across the restaurant.
Local law enforcement arrived shortly after receiving reports of a potential assault at around 10:15 a.m. Upon assessment, police found Manfre and another man who sustained minor injuries. Manfre was detained and later released on a $30,000 bail. He shared images of his own injuries, claiming they resulted from attempting to shield himself from flying furniture during the clash.
While the police have shared minimal details, a court hearing is set for November 17 at the San Fernando Courthouse, as Manfre continues to fight to clear his name.
