Devastating Incident in Baldwin Park
Authorities are grappling with a heartbreaking shooting that left three adults dead in Baldwin Park, a tragedy that has rocked the local community. Among the victims were a married couple, the beloved parents of two college-age children, who are now calling for support during this unimaginable time.
The tragic events unfolded around 5 a.m. on a Friday morning when Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of gunfire on Millbury Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene: two men and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the prompt medical assistance provided by the deputies, the couple did not survive, succumbing to their injuries at the scene. The third victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The county medical examiner revealed that the woman, identified as 56-year-old Bich Lu, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head outside her home, while her husband, 60-year-old Thuan Chung, died in the hospital from multiple gunshot wounds. The identity of the third individual remains unconfirmed as authorities continue their investigation.
A Family’s Heartfelt Plea for Support
In a deeply emotional GoFundMe campaign shared with the community, the couple’s son, Phillip Chung, expressed the profound grief he and his sister, Helen, are experiencing following the loss of their parents in what he described as a “devastating act of violence.” The siblings, aged 21 and 18 respectively, have turned to the public for assistance in covering funeral costs as well as supporting Helen’s upcoming college expenses.
Phillip emphasized the dedication and love his parents provided throughout their lives. “They were loving parents who offered unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement,” he shared. The funds raised are not only aimed at managing the immediate financial aftermath of this tragedy but also to help Helen continue her education at UC Irvine—a path their parents had always championed.
As the community mourns, Phillip and Helen find themselves grappling with an irreplaceable void left behind by their loss, a reminder of the fragility of life and the deep bonds of family that endure even through unimaginable hardship.
