New Footage Raises Alarms
Recent surveillance footage has brought to light the alarming moments when Cole Allen, a teacher from Torrance, California, reportedly attempted to execute an assault at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. The newly released images show Allen rushing through the security checkpoint, shotgun in hand, as he dodged metal detectors.
Details of the Incident
According to the Department of Justice, as Allen approached the stairs leading to the ballroom, he fired his weapon in that direction, prompting immediate responses from law enforcement. In the chaos, an officer discharged their firearm four times while Allen sped past.
Although it remains uncertain whether it was Allen’s gunfire or an officer’s that struck a Secret Service agent in the chest, reports confirm that the agent was wearing a bulletproof vest and survived the ordeal.
The DOJ has also shared additional footage of Allen shortly before the incident, detailing his alleged intentions. In a recent court filing, the government revealed a chilling photograph of him from his hotel room, where he posed with an array of weapons, including knives, while dressed in a black shirt and a red tie.
Prosecutors indicate that the attack was premeditated, as Allen monitored the president’s whereabouts through a website tracking Trump’s schedule leading up to the dinner. Searches conducted at his hotel room and his Torrance home uncovered further weapons and ammunition.
As this unsettling case unfolds, Allen is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
